The land of Kisetsu is a racially diverse and highly spiritual culture, with many divine and monastic traditions.

The country is ruled by a monarch who is advised by the three Temples of Chōkyō (Discipline), Yūki (Courage) and Chie (Wisdom). Unlike most temples the worshipers idolize these three traits which originated from Seikatsu original teachings; and their devotion manifests in divine abilities. These orders rarely leave the land of Spring except on pilgrimage; while monks may follow one of these traits predominantly it is only those who can produce divine energy from these ideals that are officially part of the orders. The three temples contain Clerics and Paladins, the Clergy conducts sermons, act politically, serve as city officials and are can take positions of leadership in the temples. The ambassadors are usually found within the temples. The Paladins act as a policing force around the city and usually work in unison across the 3 orders; they are often known to individually travel across shards spreading wisdom and aiding in humanitarian pursuits.

Yūki (Courage)
Live not in fear of death rather avoid a life unfulfilled.
Work towards the betterment of others and place their wellbeing over your own.
Move with assertion towards your objective.
Chōkyō (Discipline)
Control yourself to control the world around you, your potential is only defined by your strength of will.
Exercise discipline in all things to exercise and strengthen your mind.
Be uncompromising in the pursuit of your objective.
Chie (Wisdom)
Aim to consider all possibilities and know all knowledge.
Treat everything as a lesson.
Deliberate with patience the outcomes of your actions and focus on the objective.

Kisetsu is perhaps most renowned for its Monastic traditions. These Martial Artists are both warriors against fey beast and students seeking enlightenment. Due to their large number and high combat activity they make up the place of a standing army that other shards may maintain but as they see themselves as more than soldiers aggressive action has been rare though their military power would rival other shards.

Rather than large schools for specific teachings; students are taught under individual masters as well as more senior students. For someone to be taken as a student their master usually makes them undertake challenges or tests to determine if they’re worthy. However this would never involve the Pilgrimage as it is only undertaken by those who’ve undertaken basic training; it is more honorable for a master to ensure that a student survives the journey rather than sending them off unprepared.

The Pilgrimage of Kisetsu is undertaken by Monk trainees and other powerful warriors seeking enlightenment. This journey takes the pilgrim across the four different lands within the shard associated with the seasons towards the Tsuki (Moon) temple located near the far edge of the land Winter. This endeavor is extremely dangerous due to the threats present from Fey and other beasts.


The land itself is essentially 4 different sections of land going from Haru (Spring) through to Winter. Spring is the land closest to the Star Tower and as such is the most fertile, it has the most Weeping (Water?) Stones and rivers flow down to the other lands. This area is where most of the population lives, in a large city abundant with gardens and canals. It is also where the main temples and religious sites. The city has numerous portals connecting it to the Feywild but they are traditionally managed by the priesthood.

The land of Natsu (Summer) is where the majority of food production takes place in the land. The lands closest to spring has the most towns and farms. Closer to the land of autumn a great untamed forest stretches across the countryside. This forest has the strongest connection to the fey on this shard and is home to many dangerous animals. Garrisons are maintained near the border of this forest preventing beasts from roaming the countryside. Protecting the land from Fey invaders is seen as a sacred duty by monastic orders.

The land of Aki (Autumn)is entirely forest, their are practically no settlements within this area except for those linked to the temples. This area is where the majority of monastic training takes place as dangerous beasts still roam the area and the land isn’t as fertile or as warm as Spring and Summer. Most citizens don’t ever travel past this land as both it and Winter are considered too hazardous.

The land of Fuyu (Winter) is the harshest of lands with only a single temple as its populace. The landscape is barren with ice appearing in certain areas. Many horrid otherworldly creatures make their home in this land and it is the final challenge for training initiates on their pilgrimage to the Tsuki temple.


The native tongue of Kisetsu known as Gengo is only spoken in religious practice and intermittently within other speech such as with place names and common sayings. Due to their trade and political history with the Epnosi it has become the most common language used on the shard.


During the Ragnarok it was the god Seikatsu that saved the land that grew to become Kisetsu. Seikatsu was the first god that taught mortals to utilize their Ki and his two disciples Shiro and Kuro were renowned for their strength and wisdom. Upon creating the shard Seikatsu commanded his disciples to rule equally and fairly according to the teachings that he had bestowed on them; the gods whereabouts to this day are unknown.

Shiro was brash and courageous; he possessed great strength, passion and charisma which he channelled to the prosperity of the land. He concentrated on following and spreading his master’s teachings through the land while defending it from the regular fey incursions.

While Shiro was brash Kuro was patient and calculating; her wisdom and intelligence was vital to the practical development of Kisetsu. She was more concerned with the other shards and adapting to political climate of the Astral Sea; often forgoing tradition in place of innovation.

Shiro and Kuro were joint rulers of the land for a thousand years during which through the efforts of Kuro saw them join the Kingdoms. The demonic invasion served as a catalyst to incite conflict between the pair over their differing ideals and would eventually split them apart. They dueled for 4 days and 4 nights with no victory claimed; they both agreed to leave the shard in the hands of its people and left to travel the shards. It has been said that Shiro has returned when Kisetsu has been in peril over the millennia but these claims have never been substantiated.


The Sea of Stars mtud7962
